Email Aliases

Protecting your email address online is important for reasons other than avoiding spam. It is one of the main pieces of information that can be used to track you online.

Email aliases are additional sub addresses that automatically forward to your main email. You can create a new alias for each service and use it as your account email.

  • At this time, DuckDuckGo still provides this service for free: DuckDuckGo Email Protection Duck Addresses
  • A paid Proton account will allow you to easily create email aliases that link to your main email.
  • Other services like Addy.io and SimpleLogin (now owned by Proton) also provide this.

You can take your time with this. There’s no rush. Just commit to changing a few of your contact emails at a time. Make sure you proceed at a pace that feels sustainable for you. It’s much better to take your time and ensure you stick with the process. <3

By this point, you may be getting the hang of things (or maybe you already knew all this stuff). Maybe it’s also still a bit overwhelming or confusing. It’s alright to take a pause at any point in this journey, or to decide you’ve made enough changes to be happy for the time being. You should be proud of yourself. :)
